Question by 007butterfly: What anti-anxiety drug keeps you sedated when used long term?
I don’t mean in hours or weeks. Is there any that always have a sedative effect, because tolerance makes it go past fairly quick. Thanks. I am very tensed up and have been on all kinds of antidepressants.

I take anti-depressants for anxiety. They are non addicting. As far as I know, they are the only ones for this. You can look into the natural things by going to your local health store, they do work for some, not for me. I am a high strung, intense, smart person and the anxiety goes along with my personality and that I have thyroid issues.

Hi there I am 57 and had anxiety problems all my life. For me anti depressants have never worked, valium and other benzodiazapenes will work but are highly addictive and the last time I used them over about 6 months the anxiety increased I became depressed and had suicidal thoughts which are all side effects of these type of meds.I know you don’t want to hear this but self help is really the only way to go unless you want to live your life like a zombie. You learn to have good days and bad days and coping strategies.Go to anxietyuk.org there is a lot of free advice on there for you good luck

Being sedated is no way to have a life. For a longer acting calming effect I would speak to your doctor about Klonopin. One side effect that can happen is depression, so be warned.

Try some Tea like chamomile or Tension Tamers, and vitamins like B complex and Fish Oil.

And please read again what Foxy Lady has to say, she is right.

I have had panic and anxiety for many, many years.
