I know it’s a horrible notion to mix alcohol and any medication, especially anti-anxiety meds and anti-depressants. I also know that absolutely everyone is various and folks react differently. But I was just questioning if you know of any anti-anxiety meds/anti depressants that are not as horrible to mix with alcohol.

Not sure, and not worth the risk. Have you tried any cognitive behavior therapy? It’s much more effective and long lasting at getting rid of depression and anxiety than medications, which just suppress the problem rather than getting to the root. Listen, if you are feeling anxiety or depression, you should realize that it’s a blessing in disguise, that can allow you to become mentally stronger than you ever thought you could. I know this first hand. Look up some books by David Burns, they have really helped me. Read “When Panic Attacks.” I really wish you the best of luck.

No, I’m pretty sure any anti-anxiety medication worth its salt is going to be like a benzo, and drinking with those is a real bad idea.

NO there is not. It is not wise to do both. Now they say you can drink a little but what if you drink too much. Drinking is just another form of self medication that the masses do because they dont go to a counselor and a psychiatrist and get the help they need. Alcohol and alcoholism is a dreadful disease, so just order a coke an party on and be happy the next morning when you have no hangovers, it is a better life.

You can talk to your Dr. they will give you the least harmful one if they know you are going to drink but it is still dangerous If you are depressed and have anxiety drinking probably isn’t the best idea. I am a recovering alcoholic and did some pretty serious damage to my body drinking and taking antidepressants. If you you are that worried about being able to drink on your meds you may have a drinking problem, there are places you can go for help, When I got clean and sober my depression and anxiety got SSSOOOO much better Good luck!
